Comet Lovejoy - a great sight in binoculars!

A beautiful sight in binoculars last night! Me and my wonderful children went out to look for comet Lovejoy last night and we had a great session. They found it without any problems with binoculars and my son Olle 10 years thought it was big and green! In the photo you can also see two galaxies, the Whirlpool galaxy and Sunflower galaxy, if you look hard you will see them as dim spots..
And the green "clouds" are airglow http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airglow
On our way back home we stopped and looked at the Orion nebula, another great sight in binoculars..
A great way to spend with the children..
To find the comet look at the photo with the Big Dipper and you will see the comet below it.

45 Perseids during 15min! (Updated)

Oj, vilken natt!! Jag med familj drog iväg i skymningen ut mot kusten på Väddö.

Fullpackad bil med utrustning och sovsäckar m.m.

Tog med lite ved och startade en lägereld, barnen och fru lade sig i sovsäckar och tittade upp och började räkna meteorer.

Mellan 23:55 till 00:10 så såg vi 45st Perseider!! Rena showen!

Sedan när familjen somnat så började jag skönja NLC i horisonten och ovanför ett grönt band...norrsken!

Så faktum är att lite av en dröm slog igenom, att fånga norrsken och Nattlysande moln samtidigt, riktigt fint!

Jag såg också 3st "fireballs", varav en fastnade på en bild nedan.

Nu nedtankning av filer så kanske några timelapses dyker upp senare.
