Sunny Days

On sunny days, you want to take the opportunity to photograph the sun, which is quite active now with nice prominences on the edge of the sun and quite a lot of activity on the solar surface as well. All images from the Carpe Noctem Observatory and taken with a Ha solar filter.

The sun is the undisputed powerhouse of our solar system. Constantly fusing hydrogen into helium in its core, it radiates a staggering \(3.8 \times 10^{26}\) Joules of energy every single second. This output completely dwarfs human energy consumption, providing a nearly limitless engine for life on Earth

Good seeing watching the moon

Very good view through the telescope when I looked at the moon the other week. At the top is Montes Jura, it surrounds the smooth lava bed Sinus Iridum (Bay of Rainbows) on the northwestern edge of Mare Imbrium (Sea of ​​Rain). A little to the south is the mountain range Montes Recti where the highest peaks reach a height of about 1.8 km (Latin for "Straight Mountains") is a distinctive, linear mountain range on the moon, located in the northern part of Mare Imbrium. Below are the mountains Montes Teneriffa (Tenerife Mountains) with individual peaks at heights of up to 2.4 kilometers. The crater Plato (in Swedish often called Platon) is one of the moon's most famous and easily recognizable impact craters. It is particularly famous for its dark, flat bottom and its location at the edge of one of the large lunar oceans. Plato has one of the darkest surfaces on the moon because it is filled with old, solidified basaltic lava. Astronomers like Johannes Hevelius once called it "The Great Black Lake"

 

Moon and Jupiter

A beautiful sight in a small telescope, the moon with planet Jupiter together. Live I also saw the moons around Jupiter, this was too hard to photograph without making the moon way overexposured.

Comet Jacques @1764mm

A closer look at comet Jacques from Carpe Noctem Observatory, taken with a C11 @1764mm.
You can faintly see a little tail, the comet moved really fast at this focallenght..

Comet Jacques from Carpe Noctem Observatory

So first session in the observatory after the summer nights. I enjoyed comet Jacques which was really nice through my C11 at 2800mm. The comet is moving really fast towards Cassiopeia, it is impossible to see without optics, a small telescope or great binoculars are needed.
